Sorry to stir up any HiNaBN feels.

uhhhhhhh actuallyyyyyyyy real talk yo she didn’t decide to discontinue it, it was legally torn from her hands by her greedy slimeball fuckface publisher.
i totes sympathize with the sentiment because HiNaBN was, is and will always be awesomesauce… but even if it’s not the intention, it still sort of paints a picture of tess dropping some sort of ball when the truth is more tragic and complicated than a simple flight of fancy. no one wanted hanna to develop, push through and flourish more than tessa, NO ONE.
i think it should also be known that tess is probs feeling the hanna-shaped hole in all our hearts 10x harder than anyone else on this planet. it was her BABY. we’re all proud uncles and aunties at best.
and again, i know that this is just a sentiment from a big fan who wanted some sort of closure from their dearly beloved series, but this should just be sorted into the ‘shit happens’ pile and not the ‘you shoulda done ___’ pile, because she’s already gone through enough.
sorry for being Ranty McLectureson

Oh my god, is this really what happened? God damn it. I knew I couldn’t trust that guy.

This again?  Really?  No. Just no.I don’t want to have to post about this again, but the response is so incredibly misinformed and potentially harmful to parties involved, I’m compelled to try to intercept.  There was no decision whatsoever on the part of the publisher to take it away from her or to discontinue it.It’s really nobody’s business why Tessa stopped if she hasn’t decided to share that information. She doesn’t owe anyone any explanations, but that doesn’t mean you get to fill in the blanks with the myth of a slimy, sleazy corporate entity who, in a stroke of pointless cartoonish villainy, invoked some sort of mysterious lawsuit sorcery to take away your beloved comic.  The publisher in question, 4DE, is also my publisher - a small, independent operation that struggles mighty hard to keep both customers and creators as content as possible (often an impossible task, I assure you).  They had zero incentive to rip Hanna from the artist’s hands and every reason to try to keep her happily producing it.  They were very invested in that comic, excited about it, wanted nothing but success for it and bent over backwards to try to keep it alive.  Because they were so invested in it, in fact, it was very damaging for them when it ended,I understand the evil corporation vs. the little guy trope is a popular one, but it has NOTHING to do with what happened here.  Can we stop flinging around obnoxious, irresponsible accusations now?

Can we just agree that at this stage the concept of “rape” has lost all meaning in tumblr-land?

Each day, I’m hoping more and more what I see is just a result of Poe’s Law.
And if her boyfriend is sexually assaulting her all the time, why is she still with him???

One I must reblog for Tab’s attention.

I, just, what?  He asks if she’s interested/requesting permission = inquiring as to interest/seeking consent.
That is a good thing.  That is a conversation respectful of boundaries, thoughts and feelings.
Would she have committed a sexual assault on him if she’d been horny and asked if he fancied a roll around?
If ‘rape culture’ paranoia comes down to ‘it’s only NOT assault if the female (side issue - and what about same sex relationships/assaults?) initiates.  Which is balls.
Men are not enslaved to their sexual urges - there has just been an awful lot of unfortunate conditioning taken place through religion, advertising and day-to-day culture.  Getting conversations happening as equals, with honesty and respect, is just one small way this can be changed.
FFS I’m getting sick of the stupid surrounding this topic.  Some really thought provoking posts have been on my dash over the last few weeks, but ones like this just take me back to the days when I refused to be classed as a feminist, because the only feminist friends I had said things like ‘women writers are oppressed because pens are phalluses’.  As if everything we wrote belonged to Man because we were writing with dicks.
No - girls, our tool-wielding evolution has come from handling sticks. NOT GIANT CLITORISES.

Bolded for emphasis, because this kind of thing really bothers me. Feminism is important and so is understanding rape culture, but tumblr has a terrible habit of taking worthy causes and turning them into complete jokes, and it really drives me insane.
Also hey just for the record besides same-sex relationships women can rape men too. So apparently no one can have sex ever, because no one can ask for consent ever, because if you ask for consent you’re harassing each other.
Apparently tumblr wants to create a world like an awkward middle school dance where the dance floor is empty and all the boys and girls stand against opposite walls shifting their feet and not making eye contact with each other.
